SPHERE SURFSKATE (YELLOW FISHTAIL)

A surfskate for carving and pumping on flat ground. The front truck swivels on a second axis, so the nose follows your shoulders into a turn and you can build speed by rocking rail to rail without putting a foot down. The fishtail shape and 17" wheelbase keep it tight and quick to turn.

Why it rides the way it does

• Toucan S6 spring-loaded front truck — a coil spring returns the swing arm to centre, which gives a loose, flowing turn with a distinct snap back. Tension is adjustable.
• 17" wheelbase on a 31" deck — shorter than most surfskates, so the board turns tight and responds to small movements.
• 66 × 50mm, 82A wheels — big and soft enough to roll over rough tar and keep grip when you lean hard into a carve.
• Transparent OS780 griptape — full grip without hiding the deck graphic.

Good to know

• A spring-loaded front truck is looser than a skateboard truck and asks for attention when you're just rolling in a straight line. If you've never stood on a board, one of our beginner completes is the easier place to start.
• Pumping is a workout. On flat ground expect to carve for speed in short bursts rather than cover long distances.
• Check the swivel and spring every few months, and keep the board dry.
