This guide will help you choose the right skateboard — whether you’re a beginner, upgrading your setup, or buying for someone else. Let’s break it down in simple terms, no jargon, no fluff.
🔰 1. Are You a Beginner?
If this is your first board, start with a complete skateboard — it comes with everything you need:
- Deck (board)
- Trucks (the metal parts that turn)
- Wheels
- Bearings
- Grip tape

📏 2. What Size Should I Get?
Deck width is the most important factor. Here’s a quick size chart:
Suggested Deck Width by UK Shoe Size
- Shoe Size Under UK 4. Deck Size 7.25" – 7.5"
- Shoe Size UK 4 – UK 6. Deck Size 7.5" – 7.75"
- Shoe Size UK 6 – UK 9. Deck Size 7.75" – 8.0"
- Shoe Size UK 9+. Deck Size 8.0" – 8.5"+
👉 Smaller boards = easier to flip
👉 Wider boards = more stable for cruising, ramps, or bowl skating
🧠 Tip: If you’re just cruising or learning tricks, 7.75"–8.0" is a sweet spot for most riders.

Choose your board based on what you want to do:
🔄 Just Cruising / Chilling
Go for a wider deck, an old school deck or even a Surfskate for smooth turns and flow
🛹 Learning Tricks (Street & Flatground)
A medium-width board (7.75"–8.0") is ideal — balanced, lightweight, poppy
🛞 Transition, Bowl, or Ramps
Go for a wider board (8.0"+) for more foot space and stability
